Description of Services

CCS’s YouthBuild Rockford program is affiliated with the national YouthBuild program. Boone/Winnebago WIA monies will contribute toward the funding of 30 youth in the YouthBuild Rockford’s program cycle that begins in fall 2007 and ends in July 2008. WIA youth who do not earn a credential and enter further training and/or employment will remain in the program in PY 2008 to complete their GED and then enter further training and/or employment.

• The program provides academic instruction to help dropout youth earn a GED.
• The program gives youth the opportunity to gain essential workplace skills (good attendance, punctuality, interest in work, completing tasks, specific occupational skills, etc.) through extensive classroom and hands-on occupational skills instruction in the construction or computers. (Some youth in construction skills may be able to earn a nationally recognized credential from the National Center for Construction Education and Research.)
